This beginners encaustic photography workshop is a great introduction if you have never worked with encaustic wax before.
Rebecca Dunn's encaustic photography workshop at Arbor Gallery in Carmel NY is an exploratory dive into the extensive possibilities of the encaustic medium. Encaustic wax can be treated with pigments for encaustic painting, used in layers with photographs, and manipulated to create unique texture.
This hands-on, 2 hour, encaustic basics workshop is a great introduction if you have never worked with encaustic wax or learned encaustic techniques before. The workshop will examine approaches to using photos, pan pastels, and other techniques for making texture. We will address heating, fusing, and manipulating wax, as well as where to find materials.
Encaustic wax and all other encaustic supplies will be provided. Please register and email me 2 photos you would like to work with by Sept 4th. A minimalistic photo is recommended. The photos will be mounted onto a wood board ahead of time and be ready to work on for class. If you do not have photos, I can provide a few to choose from.
Participants will be supplied with two 5×7-inch wood panels to work on during this beginning encaustics class, students will be able to take both of these home with them at the end of class.
