Bio

Rebecca Dunn developed a deep sensitivity to color, atmosphere, and composition through years of observation and experimentation. Her work continues to evolve with every piece she creates, building on lessons learned from the last and allowing each body of work to inform the next. A mentorship with renowned landscape painter Phyllis Shafer in Lake Tahoe, California, further shaped her approach to light, structure, and emotional resonance within the landscape. Through her work, Dunn aims to create a sense of calm and openness—art that feels lived in, approachable, and meant to be shared.

Rebecca loves to spend time outdoors mountain biking, snowboarding, gardening and adventuring with her toddler son.
In addition to her studio practice, she teaches workshops,
Is an active member of Yellow Studio, Ridgefield Guild of Artists and Stamford Art Association.
Her work has recently been exhibited at the Stamford Art Association in Stamford CT, Yellow Studio in Cross River NY, Peep Space in Nyack NY,
and Anonymous Society in Redding CT

I often think about the space between who we are and who we think we're supposed to be. The ways we accommodate, people-please, hold ourselves in place, and construct boundaries—sometimes without realizing we've built them ourselves.

In these works, geometric forms create structure while watercolor resists it. Birds move through and around these boundaries, becoming stand-ins for the parts of ourselves that are still trying to move, grow, and change.

I'm interested in that messy space between being stuck and becoming—between falling short and trying again.
