Borrowed Sky - Original Encaustic Mixed Media Painting
9"x14"
Framed in a natural floating frame
This work was painted with water collected from
Crystal Bridges Art Museum in Bentonville AR
This collection is about the space between who we are and who we think we're supposed to be. The ways we accommodate, people-please, hold ourselves in place, and construct boundaries—sometimes without realizing we've built them ourselves.
In these works, geometric forms create structure while watercolor resists it. The hot air balloon moves through and around these boundaries, becoming stand-ins for the parts of ourselves that are still trying to move, grow, and change.
I'm interested in that messy space between being stuck and becoming—between falling short and trying again
